Mentorship of students at the national labs is a cornerstone of the Lab Fees Research Program (LFRP), with a commitment to nurture the next generation of scientists. The UC-National Lab In-Residence Graduate Fellowship, launched in 2017, plays a pivotal role in this mission, having awarded 55 outstanding UC PhD students the opportunity to conduct thesis research and receive on-site training at Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Labs. Through this fellowship, these emerging scientists not only advance their careers but also contribute to research that drives innovation across multiple disciplines.
