Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance at the UC is an umbrella term encompassing systemwide compliance with disability-related laws, regulations, and guidance at both the federal and state level. As such, the UC aligns its practices with the federal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (as amended) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as well as the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the California Disabled Persons Act, and Government Code Section 11135— all of which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability.
All UC campuses, medical centers, laboratories, reserves, and other UC facilities—and all aspects of the services, programs, and activities conducted at each of these locations— are subject to these requirements.
ECAS develops and curates Guidance and Resources regarding specific compliance requirements under these laws to assist campuses.
Additionally, each UC Campus has an ADA Coordinator who can assist with answering questions about compliance with the ADA and other disability-related laws.
