UC academic policy and planning
IRAP is responsible for maintaining and interpreting a number of academic planning policies for UC, as well as related processes, regulations, and higher education frameworks. These include:
- Academic Calendar policies
- UC Extension and Summer Session policies
- System-level program review processes (see Review process for establishing graduate degree programs and academic units and Compendium pages)
- Master Plan for California Higher Education
- State Authorization of Distance Education
- Licensure and Certification Disclosures
IRAP supports the Academic Planning Council (APC), the Joint UC Academic Senate/Administration body that reviews planning issues and develops & revises policy related to the University’s academic mission. Policies approved by APC include:
- Self-Supporting Graduate Professional Degree Programs policy
- Open Access policy (publication of scholarly works)
- UC International Activities Policy
