Commuter Benefits Program

The UCOP pre-tax commuter benefits program allows eligible employees to set aside income (up to the IRS limit) on a pre-tax basis for transportation and parking expenses. The pre-tax benefits program supports both parking at UCOP managed lots and other transportation costs.   

The pre-tax limit set by the IRS for parking expenses and commuter transportation for the 2021 tax year are:

  • $270 per employee per month for all public transportation
  • $270 per employee per month for qualified parking

Eligible Participants

Only permanent career and contract employees are eligible to participate.  

How to Participate

There are two ways to participate in this program:

  • If you are using a UCOP-managed parking lot, contact the Work Management Center for instructions.
  • For all other transportation expenses, use the Commuter Check Direct program page to enroll and manage your participation.
