Wild heron and snowy egret nesting colony visit
12:00 pm - 1:00pm; May 4, 2016UCOP staff took a lunchtime visit to an active nesting colony of dozens of black crowned night herons and snowy egrets, with guidance from the Golden Gate Audubon Society. Sponsored by OP Staff Assembly, this event was the first in a series of explorations of downtown Oakland.

Earth Day Volunteering: Channel Park Cleanup
9 am - 12 pm, April 23, 2016, Channel ParkUCOP staff celebrated Earth Day by volunteering to clear invasive plants and remove litter from Oakland’s Lake Merritt Channel Park, a wildlife refuge that lies between Lake Merritt and the Oakland estuary.
