Systemwide Statement of Legal Residence & Privacy Information

New undergraduate applicants whose residence cannot be determined from the short version of the Statement of Legal Residence (SLR) as part of their UC application, are invited to complete the full version of the SLR. The Systemwide Statement of Legal Residence (SSLR) launched Fall 2024 and allows selected applicants that have received an undetermined residency status from the UC application to complete the full SSLR. This process enables the UC to confirm an applicant's residency status at the time of admission versus waiting until an applicant is admitted and enrolls at a UC campus. This process aims to better inform applicants of their future educational costs prior to enrollment.

Selected applicants receive an email invitation shortly after the posted UC application deadline. Applicants are directed to the application status page of their UC application which will contain a link to log in to the SSLR, along with submission deadline(s).

Completion of the SSLR is optional for applicants and stands apart from the admissions process. Applicants are assessed nonresident tuition by default if they do not complete this process upon enrollment.
