Important Things to Remember about LastPass
LastPass is UCOP’s preferred password management software. It’s a place to store your passwords safely and securely. You don’t have to remember them because LastPass remembers them for you. This makes it easy to have unique passwords for every account you have.
LastPass will help keep UCOP data safe and secure while making life easier for you because you won’t have to remember dozens or even hundreds of passwords.

- Install LastPass Mobile: instructions for installing LastPass on a mobile phone or tablet. Note that UCOP only provides support for UCOP-owned mobile devices. We cannot support personal devices
Video Training
Several training videos are available for LastPass. None is more than 15 minutes. We recommend watching one of more videos if you wish to learn about some of the more advanced features in LastPass. Free live training is also available.
- LastPass Business User Demo: A general introductory video for business users
- Live, Recorded and Self-paced training: Learn LastPass your own way. Note: registration is required for this training
- Generating Secure Passwords: best practices for creating and using secure passwords.
- Sharing and Team Folders: how to share logins among team members. This is useful for systems that require administration.
- Secure Notes: in addition to securely storing passwords, LastPass can store secure notes. This introductory video explains how.
- Generate secure passwords: LastPass can automatically generate secure passwords for you.
Advanced Topics
- Managing form fills: LastPass can be used to fill in web forms. This can save you time when filling out the same information in multiple places.
- Enabling or disabling LastPass in a web browser: LastPass can be enabled and disabled within individual web browsers. Note that UCOP only officially supports Microsoft Edge, Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome.
- Using the sharing center: LastPass lets you share passwords with other LastPass users for items such as Service Accounts.
