Expected Outcomes

The expected outcome of the IT assessment will be a UC system that is: 

  • Better prepared for the digital age 
  • More deeply aligned with location and system goals 
  • Better positioned to support cybersecurity 
  • More effective at collaborating across locations and functions 

These outcomes are supported by three key outputs:  

  1. Current State Assessment 
  2. Future State Design and Recommendations 
  3. Implementation Roadmap 

The assessment is expected to include: 

  • Identifying strategic priorities for IT collaboration across the UC system 
  • Reimagining the IT operating model for how IT units across the UC system work with each other 
  • Examining and developing recommendations to align the UC technology governance model to the current state of the UC 
  • Developing recommendations to align the technology governance model within the Office of the President to current state of UCOP 
  • Providing recommendations to align the technology financial model within the Office of the President to the current state of UCOP 
  • Evaluating the maturity of key IT processes that enable collaboration across the UC system 
  • Recommending IT organizational improvements, including the identification of key roles that are currently missing or lacking across UC IT 
  • Developing a roadmap of prioritized IT opportunities along with the associated benefits
