UC ONLINE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

In 2024-25, UC Online will provide approximately $140,000 to each undergraduate campus.

As part of its strategic planning and organizational review, UC Online is designating the 2024-2025 funding cycle as a “stabilization year” to identify initiatives and processes that better align with campus and systemwide goals. Programs like the UC Online Cross-Campus Enrollment System (CCES) have experienced significant growth in both course offerings and student participation. By Spring 2025, nearly 700 courses will have been approved for CCES, with over 20,000 students utilizing the system since its launch. This growth presents an opportunity to evaluate CCES and other UC Online initiatives to strengthen their alignment with campus and system strategies. Achieving this stability will position UC Online to more effectively support online education in 2025-2026 and beyond.

As part of this effort, the block award process has been updated. For the current year, UC Online will provide $140,000 directly to each undergraduate campus. Unlike previous years, where departments and PIs submitted proposals for review by campus liaisons, funding will now go directly to the EVC/P office (or a designated office). Decisions regarding the use of these funds will be managed by EVC/P designees—such as campus liaisons or advisory council members, as determined by each campus. Campuses will also oversee communication with their constituencies, including faculty and academic departments.

The funds will be distributed during the Spring 2025 quarter. Before disbursement, UC Online will collaborate with campus liaisons to review updated reporting procedures, ensuring continuity in oversight and streamlined reporting.

NOTE: UC Online will provide additional funds for CCES operations and change orders, as well as for cross-campus instructional funding/enrollment support. Check with your UC Online Campus Liaisons for more information.
