Kevin Confetti
Associate Vice President and Chief Risk Officer
Kevin Confetti is the Associate Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for the University of California system. As AVP and Chief Risk Officer, Kevin oversees a myriad of programs for UC’s ten campuses, six medical centers, the Berkeley National Laboratory, Agriculture & Natural Resources, and the Office of the President. Those programs include the University’s varied global research activities and the many safety and health programs for faculty, staff, and students. Major initiatives and programs for the department of Risk Services include implementing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) throughout the University, reducing the overall cost of risk, implementing systemwide loss prevention and mitigation programs, improving claims management systems, and developing risk financing strategies. Kevin also has oversight of the University’s Environmental, Health and Safety programs (EH&S), Security Risk & Resiliency programs, Risk Information Technology program, and the Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP). Kevin also serves as President of Fiat Lux, the University’s wholly owned captive insurance company. In addition, he is President of the Regents cell captives, Eureka, PCC, a protected cell captive, and Eureka One, a cell captive that provides reinsurance to several of the University’s voluntary benefits programs.
Kevin has over thirty years’ experience in insurance and risk management. He began his career with the California Compensation Insurance Company. He also has experience in risk management and workers’ compensation in Hawaii, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Ohio and Montana. Kevin has worked with the University of California since 2001, first as the Program Manager for the University’s then TPA, Octagon Risk Services, then in 2006 he became an employee at the University of California, Office of the President, Risk Services. He has a degree in Rhetoric & Communications from the University of California, Davis and is a certified Self-Insurance Administrator.
