AggieBuy Launches on the Unified Instance Platform

Two years ago, UC Davis leaders identified a need to replace their existing e-Procurement system by facilitating simple, cost-effective processes to address campus clients’ needs and better prepare UC Davis for the future. At the same time, UC Procurement’s eCommerce Center of Excellence (eCOE) was seeking to expand efficiencies in line with the P200 mission through a Unified Instance – a project partnership that transforms stand-alone campus eProcurement   into one integrated technology solution. This union led to AggieBuy, the first campus e-Procurement application of the Unified Instance.

Over the past year and a half, UC Davis, the eCOE, and technology partner SciQuest have collaborated on the AggieBuy project. Through combined efforts, we have created a flexible procure-to-pay platform that provides the UC Davis campus with an efficient way to purchase from hosted supplier catalogs and punch-out suppliers. At the time of the Phase One launch on November 7th, AggieBuy had 18 different suppliers to purchase from – a number considerably greater than most campuses at initial launch and 28% more than what UC Davis had in its existing e-Procurement system. Additional features in Phase One included complex routing, capital assets, and a new roles management system.

AggieBuy’s success thus far is attributed to the strong collaboration between the teams. This partnership has allowed the UC Davis team to focus on Davis-specific needs, while leveraging the eCOE and SciQuest for systemwide and client best practices. Feedback from the campus community has been very positive; customers have praised AggieBuy for catalog selection, user friendliness, and efficiencies gained through additional technology capabilities.

The team is excited for what’s ahead in the next phase of AggieBuy. Phase Two of AggieBuy will include additional features, such as complex requisitions, agreements, receiving, additional supplier catalogs, custom forms, and more. The inclusion of these new features will ultimately turn AggieBuy into a central gateway for all procurement and payment processes at UC Davis. And, set the stage for other campuses to transition to the Unified Instance.
