Project
Carbon neutrality goal of Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers
Project Description
The goal of Tina’s project is to reduce the amount of carbon emissions that result from ultra-low temperature freezers. Ultra-low temperature freezers fall under the category of scope 2 emissions. The average ultra-low temperature freezer consumes an average of about 20 kWh/day. They can consume up to 32 kWh/day; therefore, daily uses of ultra-low temperature freezers in laboratory settings in a research-based university adds up. The goal of this project is to lower the amount of kWh consumed to decrease its contribution towards carbon emissions of UCR’s campus.
