PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Simran will continue the work of past UCSB CNI Fellows in exploring the potential for local carbon offset projects. She will collaborate with any UCSB faculty whose offset projects are selected by the statewide UC Initiated Offset Program. Simran will also collaborate with local swine farmers to develop an in-depth cost-benefit analysis of pursuing offset projects at medium-scale swine farms. Furthermore, Simran will continue to identify other local projects that could be considered for offsets. For projects that are found to be feasible, she will collect the documentation needed to certify projects through third-party verification.
