PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Jack will help UC develop its strategy for procuring carbon offsets for use toward its Carbon Neutrality Initiative (CNI). This fellow will join an ongoing effort focused on exploring the quality, cost, co-benefits, and availability of carbon offsets. The final goals of this project are to identify a foundational portfolio of carbon offset projects that meet UC’s priorities for its offset procurement, as well as develop guidelines for identifying additional projects in the future. This work will involve exploring potential offset projects that are initiated by UC researchers, staff, and students, and performing research meant to identify high quality project-types and specific projects on the voluntary market.
