Jose’s project aims to analyze the resources available from tree die-off and its potential to be used as feed-stock for electricity production. This analysis will be achieved by developing a method to simulate harvesting of dead trees and evaluate the cost of harvesting dead biomass for electricity production. These results will inform polices regarding the use of biomass feedstocks to generate electric power and thereby help mitigate the consequences of massive tree die-offs in forest communities throughout California.
