Leading on Climate
Carlin Starrs
CNI Fellow
Graduate Student, Forestry and Ecosystem Management
UC Berkeley
Project Description
Carlin is studying under Bill Stewart and matt Potts. Her MS project will explore the feasibility of expanding the use of forest biomass for energy production. Forest biomass is a renewable energy source that has the potential to offset the use of fossil fuels. However, a host of questions remain about the economics and feasibility of its use. Carlin has worked as an education and outreach coordinator for the Society of American Forestry. Currently, she is a policy analyst for UC Berkeley's Center for Forestry, and will start her graduate education in the Fall of 2016.
