Institutional Research and Academic Planning
Faculty surveys
Institutional Research and Academic Planning (IRAP) team prepares and submits responses to several faculty-related surveys on behalf of the campuses. This systemwide reporting allows for consistent and efficient reporting and provides reporting relief to campus Institutional Research, Human Resources, and/or Academic Personnel offices. By coordinating this systemwide reporting, IRAP ensures consistent data definitions, improves efficiency, and reduces the reporting burden on individual campus teams.
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) – Human Resources
The IPEDS Human Resources report provides essential workforce information that supports long-term planning, staffing decisions, and diversity tracking. As a federal reporting requirement, this dataset helps institutions monitor employment trends, compare themselves with peer organizations, and make informed, strategic decisions.
Faculty salary survey – Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE)
This survey collects detailed information about faculty salaries across academic ranks, tenure statuses, appointment lengths, and disciplines. The data helps institutions benchmark compensation practices, strengthen their ability to attract and retain high-quality faculty, and ensure fair, competitive pay structures.
Faculty profile survey – Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE)
This survey supports efforts to analyze and improve faculty diversity and employment patterns. It offers insights into the balance between tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty at the department level. The information is often used by academic leaders—such as provosts, deans, and department chairs—to guide conversations about faculty development and diversity initiatives.
Faculty compensation survey – American Association of University Professors (AAUP)
The AAUP Faculty Compensation Survey provides a trusted, independent source of information on faculty salary trends. It helps institutions make data-informed decisions around hiring and compensation. The survey also serves a wider audience, including policymakers, researchers, and the general public, by offering a clear picture of faculty compensation practices in higher education.
Faculty salary survey by discipline – Oklahoma State University (OSU)
This discipline-based salary survey offers detailed compensation data across academic fields/disciplines. Institutions use this information to guide budgeting decisions, align compensation strategies with peer institutions, and enhance their ability to attract and retain subject-matter experts in various disciplines.
U.S. News & World Report College Rankings surveys
IRAP also contributes data to the U.S. News & World Report rankings. These reports influence public perception, admissions strategies, and funding decisions. Accurate and timely reporting ensures that institutions present a clear and compelling picture of their academic offerings and outcomes.
