Scott Stevenson

Scott Stevenson (UC Davis)

Scott Stevenson is the current President of the UC Davis African and African American Alumni Association and a member of the UCBAC taskforce.He is also a management consultant at Accenture with over 30 years of experience in fundraising, business development, marketing, and creative communications. Across his professional and volunteer service, Scott has successfully managed the business relationships of over 45 corporations, including Adobe, Apple, Dell, and Wells Fargo, and raised optimal financial support for UC Davis' education, research, and outreach mission. He is passionate about building constructive relationships with customers, partners, and colleagues, and motivating team members to communicate value propositions and achieve goals.

Jesse C. Moore Jr.

Jesse C. Moore Jr. (UC Irvine)
Southern Convener

Jesse C. Moore Jr. is the Executive Vice President of the Black Alumni Chapter for the UC Irvine Alumni Association and a member of the UCBAC taskforce. A former collegiate and professional athlete, Jesse has played baseball for Palomar Junior College, UC Irvine, and the Victoria Blues in British Columbia. Business Manager Sheldon Reynolds, former member Earth, Wind and Fire. Donn Bynum former member Bootsy’s Rubber Band / Bootsy Collin’s. Sheldon and Donn former members of The Commodores. Deacon West Angeles Church over 30 years.

Patricia Châu Nguyễn

Patricia Châu Nguyễn is the Director for Systemwide Alumni Engagement & Diversity Initiatives. With 15+ years experience in multicultural and identity education, diversity, inclusion and equity work, she leads systemwide alumni engagement and advocacy programs, partnering with campus alumni associations and advancement offices, to cultivate support and philanthropy among UC's 2 million living alumni. She provides expert advice and consultative services to campuses, leveraging extensive experience in alumni relations and donor relationships, aiming to create an inclusive and equitable environment while advising on volunteer management best practices within the UCOP External Relations and Communications Division.

Donald Carter

Donald Carter III, M.Ed.  (UC Merced) 

Donald Carter III currently serves as an Academic & Retention Advisor for UC Davis's Educational Opportunity Program. A proud alumnus of UC Merced, he earned his bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, followed by a Master's in Higher Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Sacramento State.  

Born and raised in Sacramento, CA, Donald is committed to enhancing the Black experience across all UC campuses. By advocating for equity and inclusion, Donald inspires others to pursue their educational aspirations and make positive contributions to society. 

Dr. Hibret Benjamin

Dr. Hibret Benjamin (UC San Francisco)

Dr. Hibret Benjamin is the founder and CEO of Marina Tooth Fairy Dental, Benjamin Dental Group Inc., and a member of the UCBAC taskforce.

Born and raised in Ethiopia, she is a graduate of the University of San Francisco and completed her training in dental surgery at UCSF. Dr. Benjamin teaches part-time as a clinical assistant professor in the UCSF School of Dentistry, where she also serves on the Dean’s Council and dental alumni board. When she is not seeing patients, mentoring, or teaching, Dr. Benjamin enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeffrey, her son, Cobe, and their dog, Ace.

cheryl lott

Regent Emerita Cheryl Lott (UC Los Angeles)

Cheryl Lott is an attorney with Buchalter, a Professional Corporation who represents corporate clients, banks, mortgage companies and other financial institutions in both state and federal court. Her practice focuses on general business and commercial litigation, as well as labor and employment litigation, construction defect litigation, and class action defense. She has significant experience in preparing all aspects of a case for trial or arbitration. Ms. Lott also has extensive experience working on local, state, and federal regulatory matters and government procurement matters. In the regulatory realm, she has significant experience assisting financial institution clients with Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering detection procedures. Ms. Lott co-chairs the Los Angeles office's litigation department. 

Ms. Lott is the immediate past President of the UCLA Alumni Association, and is a member of the UCLA Foundation Board. She is a member of the UCLA School of Law Alumni Board and is a founding member of the UCLA Law Women LEAD Board. In 2019, Ms. Lott was recognized as an Emerging Leader at the UCLA Law Awards.  

Ms. Lott earned her J.D. at the UCLA School of Law with a Concentration in Critical Race Studies and a Specialization in Corporate Law. She earned her B.A. in Political Science and African-American Studies, with a minor in Chicano Studies at the UCLA. 

Ms. Lott was the 2021-22 Vice President of the Alumni Associations of the University of California (AAUC). She was an Alumni Regent for one year commencing July 1, 2021.

Bert Wright Brown

Bert L. Wright Jr. (UC Riverside)  

Bert is someone who believes that entrepreneurship can be a vehicle of social change. He grew up in a household of entrepreneurs. His dad was a general contractor and a real estate appraiser & inspector. His mom had her own daycare for many years. His father taught him that entrepreneurship is a pathway to controlling your own future and making a difference in the world. As a young person, Bert developed his entrepreneurial muscles as a paper boy in junior high school. He learned the power of creating his own personal economy and loved the feeling of creating a paycheck at will. 

He honors his family’s legacy of being a change agent as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. through their numerous community events, serving as a board member of the University of California Riverside Alumni Association, and as chair of the UCR Chancellor’s Eleanor Jean Grier advisory committee. Furthermore, Bert helped to reactivate the UCR Black Alumni chapter in 2016, serving as president until 2019. 

Bert has a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership. He is married to his beautiful wife, Xkizin, and lives in Riverside, CA. 

Cheryl Wright

 Cheryl Wright, MHA (UC Berkeley)  

Cheryl Wright is President of UC Berkeley's Black Alumni Association (Cal BAA). She holds a Master's in Healthcare Management degree and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®). Cheryl has extensive background as a Project Management Consultant with expertise in Risk Management, Insurance and Financial Services.  

She also serves as the Board Secretary for the Black Alumni for Educational Excellence (BAEE), a nonprofit organization seeking opportunities for educational equity and inclusion for Black/African American students across University of California campuses systemwide. With several decades of service on various boards, Cheryl is committed to fostering equity and access for underserved communities. As Board President of Cal BAA, she advocates for mentorship, community support, and initiatives that elevate Black Excellence within the UC Berkeley community of alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
