Keeping Our Faculty of Color Symposium

April 14-16, 2013: Hosted by the University of Minnesota

This national meeting engaged attendees on research-based strategies for advancing excellence and institutional transformation by achieving diversity and equity within higher education.The program featured presentations from scholars from across the field of higher education, including community colleges, public and private universities, and four-year colleges. Topics included:

  • Developing a pipeline for a diverse faculty
  • Approaches and models for generating change on an institutional level
  • Assessments of strategies focused on improving diversity in fields throughout the academy, especially science-related fields
  • Impacts of the upcoming Supreme Court decision on Affirmative Action
  • Best practices for faculty driven retention and mentoring programs approaches to effective search committees.
