Designing, Collecting and Analyzing Data on the Faculty Recruitment Process

February 8, 2012: Hosted by UC Office of the President

The UC ADVANCE PAID Program and its “Recruitment Data Analysis Project” is focused on developing and analyzing a common data bank of information on faculty searches. The purpose of the project is to analyze search activity at key stages of the process to understand more about why women and under-represented minority hires continue to lag PhD availability in the natural and behavioral sciences as well as in engineering and computer and information science.

The meeting included a detailed update on UC Recruit extension to Round 1 campuses, a discussion of systemwide and campus-level distinctions that must be considered in the development of a common database, exploration of other best practices on campuses that could be adapted to UC Recruit, and work on defining the standards for reporting formats.
