Experience

Trevor Finneman joined the Office of General Counsel in January of 2022. He advises on disability issues involving students, patients, and guests/visitors across the University of California system, including all campuses, medical centers, and laboratories. Trevor's portfolio includes classroom accommodations, housing accommodations, patient and companion accommodations in clinical settings, guest/visitor accommodations (sporting and performing arts events & public ceremonies like commencements), and issues relating to physical accessibility, digital accessibility, transportation, and emergency management. Trevor frequently advises on policy and provides trainings to University of California locations on various disability topics.

In addition to his advice work, Trevor frequently assists in the resolution of complaints against the University. Trevor helped negotiate UC Berkeley's consent decree regarding digital content with the United States Department of Justice. On behalf of the University, he also directly handles investigative inquires by the Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights and the Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights.

Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Trevor spent his career as a plaintiff-side disability law litigator. His litigation cases include, for example, a landmark class action lawsuit that resulted in the largest disability law settlement in United States history and the first published opinion in the Ninth Circuit involving peer-to-peer disability harassment.

Education

Trevor received his two undergraduate degrees from the University of California, Berkeley with Highest Honors and Distinction in General Scholarship (dual B.A. degrees, 2006). He received his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law (J.D., 2010).
