Robert Swerdlow

Chief Campus Counsel, UC Los Angeles

Robert (Bobby) Swerdlow is the Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs and Chief Campus Counsel for UCLA. He joined UCLA as a member of the Legal Affairs team in 2018. Prior to joining UCLA, Swerdlow was counsel, and before that an associate, in the litigation department at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in Los Angeles. He clerked for two U.S. District Court judges (Gary A. Feess in Los Angeles and Edward J. Schwartz in San Diego). While in private practice, he was awarded the USC Public Interest Law Foundation’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award for his work on behalf of children in foster care. He also served as counsel to the Citizens Commission on Jail Violence as part of its investigation into allegations of excessive use of force in the Los Angeles County jails. Swerdlow is a double UC grad, having received his B.A. from UC Berkeley and his J.D. from UCLA Law School.
