Experience
Harpreet Chahal joined the Litigation Group in August 2017 and is responsible for monitoring employment-related litigation for the University of California system. Prior to joining UC Legal, Ms. Chahal served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the Department of Justice for nearly ten years. During that time, she was lead counsel for the United States in defensive and affirmative civil matters in federal district court and in the Seventh and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal. Practice areas included torts, employment discrimination, constitutional law, civil rights, Freedom of Information Act, and the False Claims Act. Prior to the United States Attorney’s Office, Ms. Chahal practiced product liability litigation at Shook, Hardy & Bacon.
Education
Ms. Chahal was awarded her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004, after receiving her undergraduate degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 2001.
