Experience
Emily Berger joined UC Legal (Oakland office) in June 2024 within the Business, Transactions, and Innovation practice group and provides guidance and advice on procurement matters at the systemwide and campus levels, including complex contracts and related policies. Before joining UC Legal, Emily was Associate General Counsel at Meta (formerly known as Facebook), where she negotiated commercial contracts that provided increased internet access in emerging markets. Prior to Meta, she served as Legal Director at Netflix and Senior Counsel at Dolby. Before becoming in-house corporate counsel, Emily was a Fellow at the Electronic Frontier Foundation in San Francisco defending digital privacy, free speech, and innovation, and she spent several years in private practice in Boston as a patent litigator at Fish & Richardson and Lando & Anastasi. Emily also enjoys being an attorney mentor and Adjunct Professor at Santa Clara University School of Law.
