Experience

David Zonana joined the Office of General Counsel as Principal Counsel in 2022. Mr. Zonana handles academic affairs matters in a variety of areas, including Clery Act compliance, NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA compliance, conflicts of interest and governance, Public Records Act compliance, data sharing, and FCC licensing. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Mr. Zonana served as a Supervising Deputy Attorney General in the California Attorney General’s Office, where he defended California’s climate change regulations and managed a diverse docket of enforcement cases and federal litigation. Mr. Zonana also practiced law with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Palo Alto.
