UC Slip-Resistant Footwear Program

The University of California, Office of the President Risk Services (OPRS) provides program oversight and funding for the systemwide slip-resistant footwear program. This program provides slip-resistant footwear to employees who routinely work in abnormally wet or slippery environments at all University of California locations (e.g., dining services, nutrition, custodial, patient care, animal care employees). The objective of this program is to reduce the frequency and severity of slips and falls for UC employees who work in slippery environments. Reducing slips and falls will keep our employees safe while ultimately decreasing the university’s workers’ compensation costs associated with these types of injuries. It is the intent of this program is to provide high-quality, slip-resistant footwear to those employees whose job duties expose them to slip and fall hazards.
