Important Notice - Travel Inconvenience Benefits
Great news for UC employees traveling domestically! The UC travel insurance policy now includes travel inconvenience benefits for international and domestic travel including baggage delay, trip cancellation and interruption, lost baggage, and travel delay. Coverage limits are:
- Trip cancellation/interruption benefit – Maximum $2,000 for the amount of non-refundable travel expenses if traveler cannot travel, or must interrupt travel, due to severe injury or sickness, or the death or severe injury or sickness of a family member, a natural disaster, and other unforeseen reasons as defined in the policy terms and conditions.
- Trip delay benefit – Maximum $200 per day for up to 10 days if a traveler’s trip is delayed for more than 6 hours due to any of the covered reasons as defined in the policy, which include but are not limited to carrier delay, inclement weather which prohibits common carrier departure, equipment failure of a common carrier, lost or stolen travel documents, natural disaster, the covered person being delayed by a travel accident in route to departure, hijacking, unannounced strike, riot, and other reasons as defined in the policy terms and conditions.
- Lost baggage benefit – Maximum $1,000 per bag for up to 2 bags if luggage is checked onto common carrier and is then lost, stolen or damaged. Traveler must file claim with carrier and benefits provided are in excess of what is paid by the carrier. $25 deductible.
- Baggage delay benefit – Maximum $500 per trip if checked-in luggage is not delivered within 6 hours of arrival at destination. Benefit includes reimbursement for essential items purchased within 24 hours of arrival or delivery of bags, whichever occurs first.
