UC Employment Practices Liability Insurance Coverage

Employment practices liability coverage is provided for university employees for alleged wrongful employment related acts (such as harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination) that occur while the employee is in the course and scope of their employment or project. This is a self-insured program funded by each campus and medical center.

Claims

These claims typically arrive in the format of a lawsuit. Refer summons servers to the Office of General Counsel at the Office of the President. Any questions should be referred to Campus Risk Managers or Health Center Risk Managers.

Employment Practices Improvement Committee (EPIC)

The Employment Practices Improvement Committee (EPIC) is a systemwide committee made up of professionals in risk, human resources, legal, and compliance and audit, whose mission is to reduce the number of employment practices claims and improve the working experience for university faculty and staff. EPIC works with many campus and systemwide departments to provide training programs for university managers, supervisors and employees.
