Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz)

GO-Biz is the state’s single point of contact for economic development and job creation efforts. It has partnered with UC in different ways to spur innovation and business growth in California.

GO-Biz Innovation Series

This series, initially held on UC campuses, fostered discussions about innovation and business in California. At each event, speakers from that campus and the local community presented informative topics in their selected areas. Community audience members included venture capitalists, students, faculty, and local businesses.

A series goal was to engage California's higher education system (UC and State University System) with the GO-Biz iHub Regions. This increased the visibility of California's higher education system as a worldwide leader in education, research, and public service, and expanded its potential to produce innovation that leads to new business growth. It also strengthened the relationship between UC and State University systems toward greater collaboration.

GO-Biz iHubs

The iHub program improves the state's national and global competitiveness by stimulating partnerships, economic development, and job creation around specific research clusters through state-designated iHubs. The iHubs leverage assets such as research parks, technology incubators, universities, and federal laboratories to provide an innovation platform for startup companies, economic development organizations, business groups, and venture capitalists. Fifteen iHubs span the state from Sacramento to San Diego and cover some of California's most vibrant economic sectors, including agriculture, life sciences, medical technology and bio-mass.
