Go 10 More! The goal of Lalayna’s campaign is to encourage and assist local supermarkets to reduce their food waste by 10 percent and increase their food donations by 10 percent. They are currently working on a program throughout Goleta with this goal. It is well known that the majority of this thrown out food is still perfectly edible, but being kept away from the people who need it most. Lalayna and a peer decided to start a program encouraging supermarkets to reduce their food waste and increase their food donations through individualized game plans, all while using social media to increase transparency. This program could be scaled up to include on campus markets, restaurants, and dining halls.
