Kiran Cherian

GFI Fellow - Class of 2019

Undergraduate student, psychology
UCLA

DESCRIPTION

Kiran will be working closely with his graduate mentor, Lauren Hofschneider, to explore two hypotheses: (1) food insecurity (vs. security) will be associated with greater stress, and (2) food insecurity (vs. security) will be associated with greater reports of stress-induced eating behaviors. His research in the DISH Lab has the potential to highlight stress as an obstacle towards healthy eating among the student population that struggle with food insecurity. Kiran’s ultimate goal is to discover novel and innovative methods to reduce students’ stress, which, consequently, should promote better food eating choices and overall healthier lifestyles.
