Behavioral Intervention

UCOP Risk Services coordinates a systemwide workgroup known as the  Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) Leadership Council, made up of systemwide representatives from all locations (campuses, medical centers, ANR). The Council conducts monthly conference calls and conducts face-to-face meetings on a semiannual basis.  BIT teams and threat assessment in higher education is an emerging area of practice - post Virginia Tech.  UC BIT's utilize additional expertise from UCOP Risk Services and external threat assessment consultants when needed.  Teams utilize structured violence risk assessment tools at different stages of the assessment process depending on nature, severity and level of concern.
