Finance and Administration

The UC Health Finance and Administration (F&A) department provides strategic, administrative, and financial direction to support and optimize the overall effectiveness of UC Health. Led by the Associate Vice President, Finance and Administration, F&A teams work closely with the UC Health division, UC Health academic medical centers and UC Office of the President to provide innovative solutions to complex strategic matters and administer inclusive, efficient operational and financial support.

Key areas of F&A services include:
  • Direct support of the Executive Vice President, UC Health and coordination with UC Health stakeholders, including health system Chancellors, CEOs, CSOs, and CFOs
  • Engagement with the UC President’s Executive Office and UC Board of Regents to advance high-impact efforts and priorities of the UC Health system
  • Development and execution of the UC Health systemwide strategic investment plan, division strategic plan, and corresponding business plans in order to achieve results that further the UC mission
  • Coordination of the Managed Care Contracting Collaborative and an integrated commercial payer strategy
  • Collaboration with medical center financial teams to support the systemwide UC Health debt portfolio
  • Management of systemwide financial reports and the annual Community Benefits report
  • Advancement of UC Health’s systemwide climate and sustainability efforts including support for the Center for Climate Health and Equity
  • Coordination between UC Health and Systemwide HR on labor, compensation, CEMRP, and benefits
  • Management of the UC Health division operations, including budget, finances, human resources, procurement and business services, and coordination with UCOP Operations
  • Supporting workforce development of UC Health Staff and sponsoring the UC Health Anti-Racism Working Group to help achieve our vision of becoming an inclusive workplace that embraces the diversity of its employees and fosters an environment where everyone feels respected, appreciated and valued
  • Execution of a UC Health systemwide branding and communication strategy

In addition, F&A provides leadership and support for cross-functional systemwide initiatives, recommendations in organizational governance, leadership consulting, and change management. Recent examples of key priority initiatives include:
  • Development and implementation of UC-wide policies that support UC Health’s affiliations with other healthcare organizations that have restrictions on care
  • Partnership with the California Department of Public Health to ensure public health readiness and pandemic preparedness for UC and all people of California
  • Coordination of the DHCS Health Care Worker Retention Program
