DESCRIPTION

2021-22 GFI student fellow

Vincent will examine how differences in West African smallholder farmers' rainfall expectations are informed by their previous experiences. A primary goal is to understand if extreme events like droughts and floods are more salient than average conditions in individuals' mental models of rainfall. As climate change is expected to make extreme events more common, he also plans to explore how differences in expectations of these events are associated with various risk mitigating behaviors individuals adopt in their agricultural production process.
