The University of California is pleased to announce two funding opportunities for UC-National Laboratory Research Collaboration.
This page provides information on the two UC National Laboratory Fees Research Program funding opportunities available in the 2022 cycle. Program updates and announcements will be posted on this page.

UC Multicampus-National Lab Collaborative Research and Training (UC-NL CRT) Awards

These awards support collaborations consisting of at least three UC campuses and either Los Alamos or Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory conducting research in one of three strategic areas targeted in the RFP. Campus organizers hosted workshops for each area.

Key Dates:

  • Wednesday, April 21 at 10:30-11:30am PT: Applicant webinar. All applicants were encouraged to attend. Slides from the webinar are available here: Applicant webinar slides (pdf).
  • Thursday, May 27 at 12:00 noon PT: Deadline to submit Letters of Intent. These are required and must be submitted through SmartSimple.
  • Tuesday, June 15 at 10-11am PT. We held a required webinar on how to submit full applications in SmartSimple. The webinar presentation (mp4) and webinar slides (pdf) are available.
  • Thursday, August 5 at 12:00 noon PT: Deadline to submit full proposals.

UC-National Lab In-Residence Graduate Fellowships (UC-NL GF)

These Fellowships support doctoral graduate students to conduct in-residence dissertation research at Los Alamos or Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in any area relevant to the labs.

  • There were two applicant webinars on April 27 and 28 featuring current fellows and national laboratory liaisons. We encouraged all applicants to attend one. Slides are available here: Applicant webinar slides (pdf).
  • Thursday, June 3 at 12:00 noon PT: Deadline to submit Letters of Intent. These are required and must be submitted through SmartSimple.
  • Thursday, September 2 at 12:00 noon PT: Deadline to submit full proposals.
