Service Description

Instant Messaging (IM) allows two or more people to “chat” electronically in real time by sending typed messages back and forth on their screens. IM users may compose contact lists and groups and can also see when their colleagues are online and available to chat.

IM at UCOP is available only while using OWA.

Availability of Service
24/7 except during planned outages

An Office 365 email/calendar account, which includes Instant Messaging, is provided to all UCOP staff, contractors, and other associated personnel

The cost of the service is covered by central IT funding.
