Deputy General Counsel - Business, Finance & Innovation
Geoff Gibbs joined the Office of the General Counsel as Deputy General Counsel for the Business Transactions and Land Use group in August, 2015. He brings more than 25 years of significant experience in the commercial, regulatory and public policy arenas, having served not only as a transactional attorney at O'Melveny and Myers and The Gibbs Law Group, but also as a business development and strategy executive at Hughes Space and Communications, Motorola, and the Walt Disney Company.
Mr. Gibbs currently serves as a Commissioner on the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission and is a member of the Board of the San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association (SPUR). He is a graduate of Harvard University (A.B. Economics, magna cum laude) and earned his law degree from Boalt Hall at the University of California, Berkeley and an Executive MBA from UCLA. He also has an M.Phil. degree in International Relations from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
