About UC Rates
UCOP has established UC Rates, indirect costs rates for certain classes of sponsored activities separate from federally-negotiated rates. UC Rates were created in response to the 2012 Indirect Cost Waiver Policies and Practices Workgroup Recommendations Report.
A separate indirect cost exception is not required when applying these UC Rates. The classification of funding in these categories is sufficient for reporting purposes that the appropriate indirect cost rate and base is being applied to a specific award.
Indirect cost exception procedures should be applied if a campus seeks recovery less than the established UC Rates.
