Prior Awards

The Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI) program is proud to support collaborative research across the UC system.

2015 AWARDS

The 2014-15 Request for Proposals for UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives awards generated 186 eligible applications, totaling over $273 million in total funding requests. Due to budgetary constraints, only 11% of proposals could be funded, and we were unable to award many excellent proposals. We awarded twenty outstanding proposals, totaling over $24 million over four years, in this highly selective competition. These awards represent a broad range of research and scholarship, and support both new and existing collaborations aimed at strengthening UC's research enterprise and benefiting UC and California. Collaborations represent genuine engagement among faculty, staff and students across all 10 campuses.

One of five subject area expert panels reviewed and ranked each application, and a Portfolio Review panel made recommendations to overall funding priorities consistent with the goals and objectives of the MRPI program.

2009 AWARDS

In 2009, the first round of MRPI awards awarded over $70 million in competitive grants to 37 multicampus programs and initiatives. Collaborations assembled statewide teams of UC experts from a broad range of fields to focus their efforts around specific research areas important to California.

Applications were reviewed and ranked in one of six expert panels, and a Portfolio Review panel made recommendations as to the overall funding priorities consistent with the RFP and university goals for these funds.
