Institutional Research and Academic Planning
Part of the value of centralized institutional research and academic planning functions is that IRAP submits external reports, particularly federal reporting to the Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (IPEDS), on behalf of each campus, instead of requiring each campus to submit reports on their own.
IRAP coordinates the annual submission of all IPEDS surveys on behalf of the UC Campuses. This includes surveys in eight areas: institutional characteristics, degrees conferred, 12-Month enrollment, student financial aid, human resources, fall enrollment, finance, and graduation rates. These data are the most comprehensive public source of comparative institutional data within higher education. The annual collection cycle runs from September through April, with data finalized and made publicly available approximately six months after submission.
