The University of California is increasingly reliant upon the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations and other friends. A great deal of this philanthropic support is dependent on the service of volunteer groups and nonprofit organizations that assist the university and its individual campuses. These entities provide valuable assistance in fundraising, public outreach and other support for the university's mission. The most significant of these organizations is the campus foundation associated with each of the ten campuses.

While UC campus foundations have been in operation for decades, recent legislative proposals and press reports have demonstrated that there is a great deal of inaccurate information surrounding these organizations. The following documents have been prepared in order to address some of the more common questions posed regarding UC campus foundations, and to ensure that accurate information is available to the public.
