ITS supports UC owned iPads, and allows personally owned iPads to connect to UCOP email, calendar, and contacts for business purposes.
- For UC owned iPads: When requested by departments, ITS purchases UC owned iPads for business use and configures them to receive UCOP email, calendar, and contacts. ITS secures iPads by establishing a passcode and the ability to remotely wipe the device in case it is lost or stolen. ITS provides very limited support for hardware issues and recommends customers visit the Apple Genius Bar for assistance.
- For personally owned iPads: UCOP personnel may configure personally owned mobile devices to receive UCOP e-mail, calendar, and contacts. (Search for “personal iPad in the IT Service Hub knowledgebase.) Note that ITS does not support or take any responsibility for personally owned mobile devices. For support, customers should consult their carrier or the store where the device was purchased. In addition, customers are responsible for securing their personally owned iPad. ITS recommends the activation of the password lock on iPads to protect data in case the iPad is stolen or lost.
