Records searches

Service Description
UCOP employees with a business need may obtain records from the UCOP Central Records Collection in the following ways:

  1. Upon request, Records Management Services (RMS) staff will search the collection for records from 1958 through the present. Queries involving records created prior to 1958 are referred to the University Archives at the Bancroft Library.
  2. UCOP employees may search the collection's electronic database, Document Central, which contains records from 1983 to the present. Generally, records from 1997 through the present are available as PDFs. Summaries of earlier records are available in the database; microfilmed copies of the records may be provided upon request.

How to Order
UCOP employees should contact Records Management Services at records@ucop.edu or (510) 987-0399 with search requests, or to request a Document Central account. Search requests from other campuses or from outside the university should be directed to (510) 987-0385.

How to Request Support
Support is available M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Contact Records Management Services for information.

Eligibility
UCOP employees with a business need may request a records search. Only nonconfidential material is provided. Requests from outside UCOP are subject to review and approval. Access to the Document Central database is restricted to UCOP employees who have a business need to review nonconfidential UCOP records.

Availability
The Document Central database is available 24/7, except during planned outages.

Cost
There is no charge for records searches or access to Document Central.
