About the RASC

RASC logoThe mission of the Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) is to build a state-of-the-art retirement processing center and service experience that helps employees transition to the next phase of their lives.

The Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) supports members of the University as they transition into retirement and with life events beyond work (including University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP) retirement income, UCRP disability income, survivor benefits and UC-sponsored health and welfare benefits.) The RASC provides plan members - employees, retirees, and their eligible family members - information they need to understand their options, make informed decisions and effectively manage their benefits. The RASC administers UC Policies and Plans for retiree health and welfare benefits with a user-friendly, efficient, and accurate approach. Additionally, the RASC ensures that UCRP and benefit plans are administered in a manner consistent with fiduciary responsibilities and appropriate plan documents and regulations.

The RASC was formed with an emphasis on delivering excellent service using efficient processes that leverage technology and quality control. The center is located in Oakland, CA and reports to a Management Advisory Board. The Board is chaired by the Vice President of Human Resources and is comprised of Campus and other Office of the President representatives including the Office of the President Budget Director, the Co-Interim Chief Information Officer, the Associate Vice President and Systemwide Controller, the Associate Vice President of Communications, and members of the Office of the General Counsel.
