The HR Compliance systemwide unit works with UC locations to ensure compliance with appropriate employment laws and HR policies. Policies monitored include staff personnel policies, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) regulations and policies, the Group Insurance Regulations for the health and welfare benefit plans, and, in coordination with the Retirement Administration Service Center, the University of California Retirement Plan Regulations.

To ensure effective compliance efforts, HR Compliance works closely with the Office of Ethics, Compliance and Audit Services and with the Chief Human Resource Officers (CHRO) Compliance Committee.

The majority of the staff in the HR Compliance unit are Certified Compliance and Ethics Professionals (CCEP’s)
