The Division of Health Affairs is
responsible for developing and managing policies and programs related to the University’s
health sciences and professional
education and training programs in dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, public health,
and veterinary medicine. Through these vital
programs, the Division represents the University in responding
to the needs of the citizens of California, policy makers,
faculty, and the nation by modeling
quality programs and training future health
care professionals.
The Division’s major operational
areas include:
Academic Health Sciences, is
responsible for coordinating systemwide health science
academic affairs and oversight of the Academic Geriatric Resource Program.
Legislation and Policy Unit, coodinates the review and analysis of state and federal health-related legislation and articulates divisional positions on legislation and regulatory policies related to UC's programs in health sciences education and training and health research.
Special Research Programs, including oversight
of the Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP), Tobacco-Related
Disease Research Program (TRDRP), and the Universitywide AIDS
Research Program (UARP).
US and International Initiatives, including the California Health
Benefits Review Program (CHBRP), Vector Borne Diseases Research Program (VBDRP), California-Mexico Health Initiative (CMHI), Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community (PRIME-LC), and Anatomical Materials Programs
AKA Willed or Donated Body Programs.
