Office of General Counsel
Stephanie Leider joined the Office of the General Counsel in January 2009. As a member of the Labor, Employment & Benefits group, she devotes a considerable part of her practice to providing advice related to whistleblower and whistleblower retaliation claims, disability accommodation, management of family and medical leaves, executive compensation, and policy development.
Stephanie previously served as in-house counsel for Loyola University of Chicago after spending eighteen years as a litigator, defending higher education and corporate clients in a range of employment and civil litigation matters. She began her legal career at Butler Rubin Saltarelli & Boyd LLP in Chicago in 1988, becoming a partner in 1994. In 1998, she and two partners founded Babbitt, Melton & Leider, a law firm dedicated to the representation of colleges and universities. After relocating to the Bay Area, Stephanie served as Of Counsel to Fisher & Phillips LLP.
Stephanie is a cum laude graduate of Smith College and received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. After law school, she clerked for the Honorable Charles L. Levin of the Michigan Supreme Court. She has served on the Board of Trustees of Smith College and was a founding officer of the Sarcoma Alliance.
