We are the nexus for UC efforts that advance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the academic pipeline.

The Office of Diversity and Engagement provides vision, direction, leadership and oversight of UC’s engagement in public education. We manage programs, initiatives and services that prepare students to succeed academically and to ensure that they advance smoothly throughout the academic pipeline. We focus on students from communities with low college enrollment rates, applying current research and best practices to enhance the teaching-learning process with public school educators. We contribute to developing overarching strategies and approaches for the UC system that advance access, diversity and inclusion for students and faculty.

Transcript Evaluation Service

Since 2004, the Transcript Evaluation Service (TES)  has been used to help more than 160 schools increase rates of college eligibility among their students. TES is a data tool created by the UC Office of the President that provides verified reports of students’ progress towards completing “a-g” subject requirements. California schools use TES to increase access to the UC and CSU systems, especially for low-income, educationally disadvantaged students from diverse backgrounds. Learn more about TES.

Personal Insight Questions Video

Diversity & Engagement has created a video to help students approach the new personal insight questions on the UC application. The video provides writing tips and guidance for students from underrepresented backgrounds who are the first in their families to apply for college, or whose schools have limited college counseling resources.
