Biography

Paul Riofski

Paul is the Manager of the Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute, and has been with UC for the past 25 years, having moved to the Berkeley campus in 2000 following 16 years at UCSF. He has chaired the staff assemblies at both campuses as well as the systemwide Academic Business Officers Group (ABOG) and was instrumental in establishing the Berkeley Staff Assembly's Staff Mentorship Program. Paul is also a member of the campuswide Diversity Training Facilitators Network and Chair-Elect of the UCB ABOG's Management Council. Together with his partner of 17 years, Gino Ramos, he is very active in the LGBT and Catholic communities, currently serving as a pastoral musician and as Co-Chair of Dignity San Francisco.

"My participation in the staff assemblies and other campus organizations has enabled me to interact with a much wider circle of colleagues and to have a greater impact on the University, its culture, and the overall working environment for staff, students and faculty. I have witnessed CUCSA make significant contributions in many areas of concern to the staff, including securing benefits equity for domestic partners, addressing faculty-staff partnerships with the Academic Senate and, more recently, the establishment of the permanent position of Staff Advisor to the Regents, so I feel very honored to be included in its ranks. I believe CUCSA will continue to be an important agent of change, growth and development in the University of California community, and I look forward to contributing to its present and future endeavors."
