Biography
A member of the UCLA Community for nearly 17 years, Maureen is originally from Minnesota where she completed her BA in Economics and International Studies at Macalester College in St. Paul. After working for 5 years in San Francisco in the financing and leasing business, she moved to Los Angeles to attend the UCLA Anderson School and received an MBA in 1994. As a graduate student, Maureen chaired the John Wooden Center [student run] Board of Governors where she was introduced to the world of campus recreation, and subsequently started working for UCLA Recreation, where she has been for nearly 15 years.
During her tenure at UCLA Recreation, Maureen has worked on the continuous development and improvement of the departmental website since its launch in 1995, including collaborating with UC Berkeley and UC Davis on integrated web solutions for campus recreation; been actively involved in the development, outreach and promotion of fitness and wellness on the UCLA campus for staff, faculty and students; overseen the development and implementation of podcasting and multimedia promotions; and collaborated with a multitude of UCLA campus departments on special events, fairs, programs, and services. In September 2008, Maureen accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer at UCLA Recreation where she is responsible for managing departmental budgets including purchasing, accounts payable, and cash handling; human resources including personnel, payroll and staff recruitment; membership services; and marketing.
In addition to UCLA Staff Assembly, Maureen also serves on the Student Media Communications Board, the True Bruin Campaign Committee, and the Bruin [First Year] Experience Committee. She is dedicated to fostering campus collaboration and involvement. With a strong marketing background, Maureen has a particular interest in helping Staff Assembly reach more staff through an identity campaign which includes multimedia exposure, partnership with other staff associations and organizations, and expanded outreach efforts. Maureen is excited about the opportunity to work with UCLA Staff Assembly in a leadership role, and as a delegate to CUCSA.
